Dallas police and county officials hailed a program that offers prostitutes treatment and aims to take them off the streets as a model for other counties during a monthly prostitution roundup on Wednesday.

And some lawmakers in Austin believe the 6-year-old Prostitution Diversion Initiative, a joint effort of Dallas County and the Dallas Police Department, should be mandated by the state.
